The Amarillo ISD maintenance and construction department services all district buildings and grounds, ensuring top performance.
The maintenance and construction department is comprised of automotive, custodial, construction, electrical, grounds, mechanical, planning, trades and energy management teams so all current and future facility needs may be properly addressed.

Our Service to Amarillo ISD
Automotive Mechanic
- Perform parts installation and mechanical repairs of various gas/diesel engines, transmissions and allied equipment.
- Perform troubleshoot/repairs to engines and transmissions and repair hydraulic, electrical, fuel and brake systems.
- Procure proper materials and all supplies in a timely manner for completion of the work order. Initiate work production for vehicle repairs including job planning, ordering parts, and area cleanup upon job completion.
- Accurately document records for labor, materials, and work orders.
- Identify and resolve various maintenance repair problems related to using all present fleet maintenance procedures.
- Operate hand/power tool, hydraulic floor jacks, and other allied tools using good common safety practices.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and supplies assigned, to include following federal and state guidelines for disposal of petroleum products and associated hazardous waste materials as found practiced in a fleet maintenance operation.
Industrial Equipment Mechanic
- Perform minor preventative maintenance for gas/diesel engines and troubleshoot and repair/replace belts, hoses, starters, and report major maintenance issues to your supervisor.
- Perform operation checks upon completion of periodic engine maintenance including adjustments for all equipment as required.
- Inspect and repair spraying equipment for fatigue and corrosion seasonally.
- Maintain mechanic shops tools and inventory supply requirements.
- Maintain equipment parts manuals and reference schematic manuals used in a repair shop.
- Initiate work production for equipment repairs including job planning, ordering parts, and area cleanup upon job completion.
- Accurately document records for labor, materials, and work orders.
- Operate hand/power tools, hydraulic floor jacks, and other allied tools using good common safety practices.
- Effectively communicate with craftsmen and other supervisory personnel in scheduling various maintenance repairs.

Cluster Coordinator
- Supervision of Head Custodians and Custodians in assigned Cluster Campuses
- Responsible for maintaining overall building cleanliness at each assigned Cluster Campus
- Responsible for responding to all emergency situations, such as fire, flood, burglary, vandalism, etc.
- Responsible for coordinating with other District staff concerning, work orders, building rentals, scheduled events, etc.
- Responsible for overseeing overtime requirements in assigned Cluster Campuses
- Responsible for overseeing custodial supplies usage at each assigned Cluster campuses
Head Custodian (Day Custodian)
- Check building for problems first thing in the morning
- Dust offices
- Check restrooms and classrooms for supplies
- Dust mop the halls and pick up trash
- Clean restrooms throughout the day
- Maintain litter around the exterior of the campus
- Maintain the lunch rooms during lunch
- Maintain and stock supplies
Night Custodian
- Clean classrooms, dust mop, empty trash, spot mop, clean chalk trays.
- Clean restrooms, disinfect commodes, sinks and urinals, wipe walls, clean mirrors, mop floors
- Maintain and stock supplies
- Dust mop halls and spot mop daily
- Wet mop halls and buff twice per week
- Secure the building
Carpet Cleaners
- Maintain carpet throughout the district
Substitute Custodian
- Clean classrooms, restrooms, and hallways in the absence of a night custodian
