  • High school and middle school campus administrators shall have the discretion to determine the appropriate use of electronic devices outside the school day for students participating in extra-curricular activities while on school property or while attending school-sponsored or school-related activities on or off school property.

Teachers and administrators may confiscate electronic devices used in violation of this policy. Students who repeatedly violate this policy may be subject to established disciplinary measures.

    • For each offense, the student’s parent or guardian will be notified that a device has been confiscated.
    • When a device has been confiscated during a semester, a $15.00 fee may be charged to return the device. If the fee is not paid, the device will be kept by the school until the end of the school year.
    • Anytime a device is confiscated, $15.00 may be charged in order for the device to be returned.

Principals may designate a time and day of the week to return cell phones and other electronic devices that have been confiscated during the previous seven days. The school will keep a log of all confiscated devices and will receipt each return. All fees collected are designated to be used for security hardware on the campus.

At the end of the school year, principals shall designate a period of time for unclaimed devices to be picked up. A $15.00 fee may be charged to return each device. If the $15.00 fee is not paid and the device is not claimed within the designated time period, it will be held until the second week of June.

  • Learn More About Online Classes in Amarillo ISD
Amarillo Virtual Academy (AVA) is Amarillo ISD's online solution to helping students chart their success path around their busy schedules. AVA has been teaching students online since 2002, having joined Texas Virtual School Network (TxVSN) in 2008 as one of six online schools in the state. As a member of TxVSN we are able to offer nearly every course a student needs to graduate high school in Texas.

AVA courses are homegrown, developed and taught by Amarillo ISD teachers. We offer 16 of these courses to students locally and in the Region at reduced rates.

TxVSN adds dozens of other courses developed and taught by other districts or third-party providers in the state, giving our students as rich an online experience as possible.
