July 11, 2025 – Tascosa alumnus Shahada Wells, who went on to play D1 college basketball at TCU and McNeese State, was drafted by the Houston Rockets and now plays professional basketball on the international circuit. Shahada is back on his former turf for a few days, coaching a clinic at Tascosa. He focused not just on skill-building but on character-building, something he said takes him straight back to his days in AISD.

“Coach Jackson always taught us, ‘I don’t want y’all to just be good athletes. I want you to be good citizens, good in the community, good all around.’ I always say I can, I will achieve anything I put my mind to, so I just want them to believe in that,” said Shahada.
