AISD Board of Trustees Names Lone Finalist for Superintendent

February 7, 2025 – The Amarillo ISD Board of Trustees has named Dr. Deidre Parish as the lone finalist for Superintendent.

Dr. Parish is a native of Lubbock, Texas, and currently serves as Superintendent in Sweetwater ISD and was previously Superintendent in Darrouzett ISD.  Dr. Parish has served as Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction for Decatur ISD, Director of Professional Learning at Frisco ISD, and Adjunct Professor for the University of North Texas.

“We are excited to welcome Dr. Parish to the Amarillo ISD team,” said Doyle Corder, President of the Board of Trustees. “We were blessed to have numerous high-quality candidates and Dr. Parish rose to the top in the rounds of interviews. We are looking forward to having Dr. Parish join the team of 8 and leading Amarillo ISD. AISD is an incredible place to be and we look forward to preparing Amarillo students for life and success beyond High School.”

By law, the Board may not hire a Superintendent for at least 21 days following the public announcement of the lone finalist. Dr. Parish would succeed current Superintendent Doug Loomis, who will retire in June.

“Mr. Loomis and his team have done a wonderful job of building Amarillo ISD and giving opportunities to students. I’m going to listen, I’m going to learn, I’m going to meet people and then together, we’ll move forward. I’m here to join the team,” Dr. Parish said.

Dr. Parish and her husband, Dr. Bud Parish, have two grown daughters, Catherine and Isabella, who are also in public education.
