2024 Driver Education Virtual Classroom Instruction

June 2024 Virtual Classroom Instructions:

  • Virtual Classroom Instruction will begin on Monday, June 3, 2024, and concludes on Friday, June 28, 2024.
  • Assignments are posted on Google Classroom, Mondays – Thursdays for 16 days
  • Fridays, at the end of each week, are designated makeup days
  • Students must have all assignments completed by the last day of class

Following registration, an email will be sent with a payment link. Registration is now open to students who meet the criteria below.

Eligible students:

  • Must be an AISD Student with a valid AISD email account.
  • Must be fifteen (15) to seventeen and one-half (17.5) years of age on day of enrollment.
  • Must have technology device (computer, laptop, Chromebook) with camera, audio capabilities, and internet access.

Information:

  • Daily classroom instruction and assignments are Monday-Friday for four weeks. The course must be completed within the scheduled period. No extension. No refunds.
  • Students work on the course a minimum of two hours per day, per Texas Driver Education Laws.
  • Attendance mandatory -- Any absences require makeup lessons to earn the 32 classroom hours. Enrollment dropped on the fifth (5th) absence.
  • All instruction will be virtual with definite starting and ending dates. Instructors will be available for conferences with students or parents during their posted office hours.
  • Texas Driver Ed DE-964 certificates will be available a week after course completion (depending on school/holiday calendar)
  • Students are required to take a written test at the Department of Public Safety to obtain a permit. There is an additional fee at the DPS.
  • After obtaining a permit, students must also complete a behind-the-wheel instruction course. This can be a parent taught program or with a local commercial driving school.

Total cost is $125.00 ($120.00 classroom instruction and $5.00 Texas Driver Education Certificate DE-964E). No refunds.

Driver Education Provided by Virtual Drive of Texas

  • 32-hour Alternative Method Instruction online teen course. This course is approved by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations. This course is a certified instructor led course that allows the student to take the classroom portion online and then choose a commercial school to provide the behind-the-wheel portion. The cost for this course will be $99. This price is $80 less than the listed market price.
  • 32-hour online parent taught driver education course with a subscription for 12 months. This course is approved as Course # I07 through the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations. The cost of this course will be $1 34.95. This is $10 less than the regular cost of the program.
  • 32-hour online parent taught driver education course with a subscription for 6 months. This course is approved as Course # I 07 through the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations. The cost of this course will be $89.95. This is $10 less than the regular cost of the program.
  • 6-hour online adult course.This course is approved through the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations and is mandated by the state of Texas for all 18-24 year olds in the state of Texas who have not previously taken an approved driver education course. The cost of this course will be $50. This is $10 less than the regular cost of the course.
  • CDL FastTrack - This course is available to all 18 year old and above. This course may be of interest to the Career Technology department. The cost of this course will be $179.95.This is $20 off the regular price.
  • Driver Readiness - This course is available to any and all students wanting to learn more about driving. This course is perfect for additional assignments by any teacher. This course is free to the students of AISD

  • Students will sign up directly from the Virtual Drive webpage
  • The student will then be directed to a credit card page to complete the transaction
  • The student will have immediate access to the course upon sign-up and payment.
