What is AmeriCorps?
AmeriCorps is a National Service Organization committed to making an impact in the community. The Amarillo ISD AmeriCorps program is an amazing opportunity for high school seniors and college students to gain valuable job skills and give back to their community.
Who Can Apply?
High School Juniors (who attend one of the four AISD High Schools) can apply to serve in their senior year as long as they will turn 17 by the August start date and meet criteria listed on the application.
College students who meet criteria listed on the application can apply for the AmeriCorps college program.
What do AmeriCorps members do in their service?
Our AmeriCorps members tutor elementary students who need an extra boost in literacy. Members tutor in classrooms and after school programs offering activities which benefit elementary students emotionally, academically, physically and socially.

Mail or drop off the application, and all necessary documentation items listed as required in the application, to Christy Sandefer, AmeriCorps Director, AISD Education Support Center, 7200 I-40 West, Amarillo, TX 79106. Applications and all necessary documenation items can also be turned in to the Junior Counselor at your high school.
Interviews will be held at Amarillo ISD Education Support Center in (To be determined)
