March 31, 2025 – Dancers from all four AISD high schools returned from national competitions with a host of hardware and top titles, including three National Champion team titles.
Teams from Amarillo High, Caprock High and Palo Duro High competed at the American Dance/Drill Team Nationals in Denton, TX, March 28-29, while a team from Tascosa High competed at the Showtime International Grand Nationals in Galveston, March 29-30. The Sandie Steppers, Don Diamond Dancers and Tascosa Belles each brought home national champion titles, while the Caprockettes are national champion runners-up.
Since the Sandie Steppers were founded in 1959, AISD has been the only school district in the Panhandle to offer dance. Today, all four AISD high schools offer dance for PE or fine arts credit.
