October 24, 2014 – The school board learned the district has received a “Superior Achievement” rating in the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST), which assigns ratings to school district based on their financial performance. “Superior Achievement” is the highest rating given in the FIRST system.

Trustees accepted a $181,609 rebate check from Xcel Energy for using less electricity. Extensive upgrades to heating and air conditioning systems at eight schools, along with installation of more energy-efficient lighting at eight campuses, earned AISD the rebate from Xcel. The energy-efficient efforts are part of the 2013 school bond program and HVAC upgrades will be continued in two more phases in 2015 and 2016.

In other business, the school board approved tax rolls for Potter and Randall counties for 2014. The tax rolls are calculated by applying the AISD tax rate of $1.189 per $100 of property valuation to the taxable values in the two counties. The total amount Potter County expects to levy in school district property taxes for 2014 is $50,005,086 and the total amount Randall County expects to levy is $44,787,947.

Trustees awarded a contract to install synthetic turf athletic fields at all middle schools and replace the existing synthetic turf fields at all four high schools, and they awarded a contract to replace the roof on building #9 at Caprock High School.
