Amarillo ISD Partners with Parents to Keep Students Safe on Social Media

March 26, 2018—A series of upcoming parent forums will provide families with information and tips to keep kids safe on social media.

The forums will be led by AISD’s Learning, Design and Technology Coaches, who work with teachers and students to integrate technology into the curriculum in a meaningful and innovative way. The forums will focus on how AISD is teaching digital citizenship and what parents can do to reinforce those lessons at home as they guide and monitor their children.

“Parents can expect to take away better information on managing their student’s use of devices and a better understanding of what young people are using their devices for,” said AISD Learning, Design and Technology Coordinator Donna Hill.

All parents are invited to attend any of the forums and interpreters will be provided at each one. Forums begin at 6 p.m. and will last 30 to 45 minutes with a 15-minute question and answer session.

“We all have to work together for the best benefit of our children,” says Donna Hill, AISD Learning, Design and Technology Coordinator. “We know parents are guiding their children all the time. When children come to school, we must take on that role, so this is a true partnership with parents.”

Forums are scheduled as follows:
All forums begin at 6:00 p.m.

  • April 3:   Amarillo High School Auditorium
  • April 5:   Tascosa High School Auditorium
  • April 9:    Palo Duro High School Cafeteria
  • April 12:  Bowie Middle School Auditorium
  • April 26:  Rod Schroder Education Support Center Board Room
