May 13, 2025 – With less than a week before graduation, Amarillo High Senior Bryson Brown still hasn’t caught the notorious Senioritis that sets in for soon-to-be graduates about this time every year.
“I’ve actually loved going to school and getting to see my friends every day,” he says. “I’ll miss it.”
In a few short months, Bryson will be a 10-hour drive from Amarillo, at Colorado Mesa University, where he’ll play football and major in sports management.
“I grew up my whole life with sports, so I chose sports management because I want to be an agent and stay close to sports,” says Bryson.
He credits the high academic and athletic standards he set for himself and being part of a 5A program with landing him the opportunity of a lifetime to do exactly that, studying and playing sports at the college level.
“It’s hard to get your name out there and get exposure to recruiters,” acknowledges Bryson. “In a bigger school district, we have more resources, more players, better coaching. Our coaches are all about work, and our work ethic and mindset set us apart at Amarillo High.”
Bryson had several offers to play college football, but chose Colorado Mesa because of the community he felt the moment he stepped on campus. “I felt welcomed by the players and coaches. They knew me by name already. It’s a really great community and family.”
Family is important and Bryson expects to see his in the stands next fall. “They haven’t missed a game in my life,” he says.
