Celebrating More than 1,400 Spring Superintendent’s Scholars

May 13, 2025 – Amarillo ISD students who’ve earned the Superintendent’s Scholar designation are being celebrated this week with special assemblies to mark the achievement. Superintendent Dr. Deidre Parish has been there to shake hands with each student and present a certificate. District-wide, 1,415 students earned the designation of Superintendent’s Scholar for the spring semester, 1,157 students earned the designation for both semesters this school year, and 98 students are graduating as eight-semester Superintendent’s Scholars.

To qualify for Superintendent’s Scholars in a given semester:

  • Freshmen, sophomores, and juniors must be taking at least five of the courses included in the Superintendent’s Scholars program

  • Seniors must be taking at least four of the courses included in the program

  • All students must make at least a 95 average in regular courses, and at least a 90 average in AP and Pre-AP courses
