February 18, 2021 – Amarillo ISD will provide free weekend meals to students 18 and younger that can be picked up at 10 different campus locations during a one-day distribution event 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 19, 2021. Snack Paks for AISD students 18 years and younger will be available at all AISD campuses from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m., as well.
Providing free breakfast and lunch meals to community families and students is crucial, said AISD Child Nutrition Director Matt Buck.
“It is extremely important that we, as a District and community, support each other," said Buck. "The past few days have caused hardships due to weather and power outages, on top of the continuing Covid-19 pandemic. Our students haven’t been in class since last Thursday, meaning that many of them may not have had access to meals. Due to the Seamless Summer Option that we are currently feeding under this school year, and approval from Texas Department of Agriculture, we have the ability to provide additional meal resources such as this during these trying times.”
Families of AISD students enrolled in the Snack Pak program can receive the student’s weekend Snack Pak at the student’s campus or at one of the 10 campus locations providing the free weekend meals this Friday. AISD students who are not enrolled in Snack Pak, but who would like to have a Snack Pak, can have one for this special distribution event. AISD and Snack Pak 4 Kids are working diligently to prepare Snack Paks, and availability is subject to supply and demand during this one-day distribution event.
Free breakfast and lunch meals that cover Friday, Saturday and Sunday, as well as a weekend Snack Pak for AISD students, can be picked up during the one-day pickup event on Friday, February 19, 2021, from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at any of the following AISD campus locations:
Elementary Schools:
Middle School:
High School:
The meals will be served via a drive-through “grab and go” system, and are free to students 18 and younger. In observance of social distancing guidelines, please remain in your car.
Grab and go meals will generally be the same meals as those served in the cafeteria, though some items may be different to maintain quality and food safety.
