February 10, 2014 - Amarillo ISD has launched a newly renovated district website designed by SharpSchool, an education web hosting and content management company. The renovated website is meant to provide the most accurate and timely information to users in a manner which keeps them coming back for more. With front page news stories and splashy graphics, the goal is for all website users to feel more connected to the school district and happy with their online experience.
The website changes began last summer with a reorganization of the information provided on the site. Each department page and link was reviewed for quality purposes and positioned in a place where users would likely look for it.
“Our primary goal has been to develop a site that is easy to navigate and useful for the public, and especially parents and prospective parents,” Susan Hoyl, director of community relations, said. “We want to make sure it meets the needs of our customers and helps tell our story.”
Aesthetics of the website were a top priority when plans for redesign began. Working closely with SharpSchool, the community relations and technology departments discussed how to incorporate interactive elements to the website while maintaining user-friendliness.
“We wanted to update the overall look of the site to better showcase our growing, vibrant district,” Holly Shelton, program director for communications, said. “Starting with the home page, visitors will immediately be greeted with a bold, bright color scheme along with moving text and graphics. We hope this will be the start of a positive online experience as our customers look for the information they need.”
One of the most visited websites in the Amarillo area, the AISD website had more than 1 million viewers last year. With news stories prominently positioned on the homepage, viewer numbers are expected to increase as community members feel more connected to the stories of students and staff.
