February 26, 2014 – The spring edition of ‘Portraits’ magazine is now available on the Amarillo ISD website or for viewing in school district offices. The title story, “Come Together: How the Community is Investing in Student Success” takes readers on a journey through the various community programs enabling students and schools for success.
“I believe the stories we share with readers in this edition of ‘Portraits’ will both inspire and ignite hope for the future of our community,” Holly Shelton, director of communications, said. “AISD is a strong, growing school district. The magazine will introduce you to some pretty amazing people who in one way or another touch the lives of our students and help prepare them for success beyond high school.”
In its third volume, ‘Portraits’ is drawing a readership of more than 4,500 in print and countless more in online viewers. The magazine is one of three news programs the district offers to the community. News releases on the district website and the Newswire blog are also available for readers to stay updated with district happenings.
“The magazine serves as an annual report to the community which includes accountability, staff, student and financial data for the district, but it is the personal stories inside the magazine that shed light on the data and truly speak to the heart,” Shelton said.
The National School Public Relations Association awarded AISD with the Award of Excellence for the second volume of ‘Portraits’ magazine out last spring.
