Graduation Tickets and Decorum

April 21, 2014 – High school graduation is an important milestone, and it is the desire of Amarillo ISD for graduation ceremonies to be a positive and memorable experience for graduates and their families. As part of an ongoing effort to improve both the atmosphere and safety at graduations, once again this year guests must have a ticket for admittance into the Amarillo Civic Center’s Coliseum for a high school graduation ceremony.

Basic Ticket Information:

  • Each senior student will receive 10 graduation tickets the week of May 19.
  • Anyone who doesn’t need all 10 tickets is encouraged to return extras to the school.
  • Any extra tickets will be distributed to students who have requested in writing to be placed on a list for additional passes. Check with your school for details.
  • Please be sure to communicate with your friends and family that graduation announcements do not serve as tickets.
  • An overflow room at the Amarillo Civic Center will be available for guests without tickets to watch the ceremony live on television.
  • SuddenLink Communications will broadcast the graduation ceremonies live on cable television, providing an additional opportunity for family or friends to watch.

Other Guidelines:

Graduates should be recognized with applause.

  • Do not bring artificial noisemakers (such as air horns, drums, etc.).
  • No prolonged cheers and whistles. We want each graduate’s name to be heard.

Be considerate.

  • Please do not save rows of seats.
  • Do not bring signs or posters. They keep other audience members from being able to see the stage.

Security checkpoints will be set up at the entrances, and all bags and purses, as well as coats and jackets, will be checked. Prohibited items will not be allowed in the coliseum.
