July 31, 2014 – New this school year, the child nutrition department of Amarillo ISD is waiving the 5 percent online payment fee associated with the Parent Online website. Parents will also receive a 5 percent bonus when more than $20 is deposited into their child’s account.
“Every year we want to expand our online offerings so communication with parents is simple and efficient,” Brent Hoover, child nutrition director, said. “Nearly a quarter of meal payments are done through Parent Online, but we want that number to increase.”
Parent Online allows parents to track what their child is eating at school and deposit money into their lunch account using any computer. Users may view the balance of their child’s account, deposit money through auto deposit and receive updates when the account is running below a certain dollar amount.
The free and reduced meal application is also available through Parent Online. This online application allows for quicker turnaround and is sent directly to the child nutrition office so it is secure and confidential.
In the 2013-2014 school year, 2,628,278 breakfasts and 3,665,636 lunches were served in AISD cafeterias. Favorite meal items include pizza, burgers, chef salads and yogurt parfaits; all served with whole grains, less fat, and lower calorie and sodium contents.
