Important Information About Friday's Social Media Concerns

April 6, 2018 -- Amarillo ISD has some information for parents about a message posted overnight on social media which caused concern at one of our high schools.

Since that time, the same picture has now been altered and is being shared on social media to reference other schools. We want parents to know that Amarillo Police have confirmed the original message which referred to “CHS” came from Clovis, New Mexico and an arrest has been made there. 

Again, police have confirmed the social media post was not intended for Caprock High School or any AISD school.

We want parents to be aware that the original post and now the copycat posts are still being shared on social media, even though the suspect who created the message is in police custody out-of-state.

Amarillo Police do not believe these copycat posts are credible, and we ask people to be cautious when sharing information online, which perpetuates social media rumors.
