Schools Offer Free Lunch for First Responders

February 11, 2019– First responders can enjoy a free lunch at any Amarillo ISD school, all school year long.

Meals for Shields encourages all first responders from Amarillo and Potter and Randall Counties, including fire, police, DPS and EMS to sit down with students for a free lunch.

This opportunity not only serves as a way for AISD to thank first responders, but helps the District reinforce positive interactions between students and the law enforcement community and creates an additional security presence in schools.

“Amarillo ISD loves our first responders,” said Denise Blanchard, AISD’s community partnerships program director. “We’re always looking for ways to demonstrate the value of service to the community to our students and build even stronger relationships with those who serve us.”

Meals for Shields is offered at any AISD campus, any day of the week during the school year. First responders should show their badge at the front office when they arrive.
