AISD Named A Best Community for Music Education

March 28, 2019—Amarillo ISD has been honored for the fourth time with the Best Communities for Music Education designation from the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation. The honor recognizes the District for its outstanding commitment to music education. AISD joins only 623 school districts in the nation, and 68 in Texas, in receiving this award in 2019.

The Best Communities for Music Education designation is awarded to school districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in efforts to provide music access and education to all students.

To qualify for this designation, AISD answered detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program, and community music programs. AISD previously received the award in 2013, 2016 and 2018.

The NAMM Foundation is a non-profit and supported in part by the National Association of Music Merchants. The organization’s goal is to encourage life-long, active participation in music-making by supporting scientific research, philanthropic giving and public service programs.
