May 3, 2019 –Announced at the Lamar Lively Teacher of the Year Breakfast, Amarillo I.S.D. 2019 Elementary Teacher of the Year is Kyle Neese and Secondary Teacher of the Year is Ileana Jennings. The annual breakfast is sponsored by Education Credit Union.
These district Teachers of the Year are symbolic of the quality educators in the Amarillo community. “In A.I.S.D., one of our core values is quality staff. Amarillo I.S.D. hires highly qualified teachers, and that is important,” said Superintendent Doug Looms. “To have all the campus teachers of the year in one room each May is truly a gathering of our best and brightest.”
With nearly 2,300 teachers employed by A.I.S.D., the job of representing them all as Teacher of the Year is of great honor. “Our district Teachers of the Year are shining examples of the caliber of teaching professionals in A.I.S.D. who are dedicated to delivering quality instruction in a caring environment every day,” said Program Director for Community Partnerships Denise Blanchard.
Elementary Teacher of the Year Kyle Neese teaches first grade at South Georgia Elementary. Secondary Teacher of the Year Ileana Jennings is an English IV, A.P. and dual credit teacher at Caprock High School.
Campus teachers of the year were accompanied by their school administration to the breakfast.
