Elementary Staff Work Plans

Elementary Staff Work Plans

Governor Abbott has closed schools effective March 20th through April 3rd. Home-based learning is still a requirement. Our goal is to ensure our students have access to learning and to limit the exposure and spread of COVID-19.

The current plan is as follows.

Curriculum:

  • All ELEMENTARY curriculum will be available through one link for administrators and staff members early next week. Students and parents will receive access on Friday, March 27.
  • This is NOT required, but for those wanting to share curriculum in additional ways, please note: NO ONLINE ASSIGNMENTS MAY BE PUSHED TO STUDENTS VIA GOOGLE CLASSROOM BEFORE FRIDAY MARCH 27TH. (Per Special Education Guidelines, all students must gain access to the curriculum at the same time.)
  • The following aligned resources will be utilized to support at-home learning for all elementary students. The materials will be packed and distributed in two-week increments that will support reading, writing and math. They will be available in hard copy and digitally formats.
    • Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH)
    • Go Math
  • Students with access to technology and broadband internet may access available computer based programs with their logins and passwords for extended learning opportunities.
  • Choice boards will be included for additional learning opportunities.

Students without Technology/Hard Copy Curriculum

  • Packets will be available for pick-up by parents at designated campus sites on Friday, March 27.
  • Availability times will be from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Materials will be printed by the district print shop and delivered to the campus pick-up sites by bus on Friday morning, March 27th. We would like principals and assistant principals available at the campuses to assist with passing out the packets with a drive through process. This will be as simplistic as placing a table outside of the bus door that parents pull up to.
    • Availability times will be: 7 am to 9 am, 11 am to 1 pm, and 6 pm to 8 pm.
    • Packets will be organized by grade level.

Survey

  • A survey will go out to all parents that asks three questions:
    • Do you need hard copy/pencil paper access for at-home learning?
    • Do you need access to Snack Pak pick-up?
    • Will you be picking up daily breakfast and lunches (Lunch will start Monday and breakfast on Tuesday)?
  • This will assist us in preparing the correct number of copies, meals, and Snack Paks.

Snack Paks

  • Snack Paks will be available for pick-up by parents at designated campus sites for currently participating students on Friday, March 27th. We anticipate there being a limited supply of additional packs available for those students who are not currently participating and in need.
  • Distribution times will be from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and 6 p.m. to 8 pm.
  • Snack Paks will be delivered to campus pick-up sites by the same bus as the hard copy curriculum on Friday morning, March 27th.

Teachers

  • Teachers who need access to technology, if they do not have access at home, may pick up a Chromebook or iPad from their designated campus. Please see the schedule below for teacher pick-up. We are limiting that to small numbers per pick-up time. Teachers who do not need technology, do not need to report to campus.
