On July 27, 2020, the AISD Board of Trustees voted to delay the start of instruction until Tuesday, September 1. The delay is not a direct response to the COVID-19 virus, but rather to the new challenges teachers and campus staff will face as a result of COVID-19. The postponed start helps to ensure adequate time for schools to prepare, allowing for a stronger, safer start for students and staff.
Based on the most recent TEA guidelines, AISD is committed to in-person, virtual, and possibly a hybrid instructional setting. (A hybrid model would be for high school students only.) Delaying the student start date helps staff devote more time to:
With the exception of unforeseen circumstances, the delayed start will not result in the District having to extend the school year into June.
Campus hours for the 2020-2021 AISD School Year have been revised to reflect the following:
